Bot settings and account-wide settings

There are three levels of settings: the trading settings of one Signal bot, the parameters the exchange keeps for the whole account, and the general settings of your Sync account. It matters which one you are editing.

What it is

LevelWhat belongs to itWhere it is changed
Signal botTrade limit, auto-close, amount calculation, entries, targets, stop and trailing, directions, blacklist, leverage per pairBot card → Trading settings
Exchange accountMargin type (Cross / Isolated), position mode (One-Way / Hedge), leverage per pairThe same screens under Margin & leverage, but they apply to the whole account
Sync accountKill switch, interface language, notification chat, subscriptionMain menu

There is also a separate Bot settings screen, which is not about trading: Rename bot, Update API keys, Copy bot, Delete bot.

Where it is in the bot

  • Trading settings: Main menu → 🤖 Signal Bots → bot → Trading settings.
  • Bot settings: the same card → Bot settings.
  • Account-wide: Main menu → 🛡️ Kill switch, 🌐 Language / Язык, 🔔 Notifications, 💳 Subscription.

How it works

Every Signal bot has its own trading settings. Two bots on different keys can trade the same channel differently: one at 5 % of the balance with the stop from the signal, the other at a fixed 50 USDT with its own 10 % stop. The Apply default settings button resets only the bot from whose card it was pressed.

Copying a bot carries the trading settings over to the new bot: when you press Copy bot the bot asks for a new pair of API keys — “To copy the bot and its trading settings, you need to set a new pair of API keys for it”.

Three settings live on the exchange, not in the bot:

  • Margin type — it is “set for the entire account, affecting all trades”. Switching it in one bot changes it for every bot on that account.
  • Position mode — applies only to new trades and cannot be switched while there are open positions or active orders on the exchange. Grid and DCA bots require One-Way.
  • Leverage per pair — set in the bot but applied on the exchange; it cannot be changed while there is an open trade on that pair.

Grid and DCA bots do not read the trading settings of a Signal bot: their leverage, margin type, stop and trailing are set in their own creation wizards.

Kill switch is account-wide protection: when the account draws down by the set percentage, it pauses all Grid and DCA bots. It does not switch Signal bots off — auto-trading on channels is turned off with the Auto-trade toggle in each bot card.

Example with a calculation

You have two futures Signal bots on the same Bybit account: “Main” at 5 % of the balance and “Test” at a fixed 20 USDT. You opened Margin type in the “Test” bot and chose Cross.

  • Trade amount: “Main” still uses 5 %, “Test” uses 20 USDT — these are bot settings.
  • Margin type: Cross now applies to both — this is an account setting. The positions of “Main” have become cross-margined too, and on a deep loss in any one of them the whole balance is exposed, including the money of “Test”.

That is why the margin type and the position mode are worth choosing once and deliberately, rather than tuning them for one particular bot.

Common errors and what the bot says

  • “Are you sure you want to change the margin type? (When switching from Cross to Isolated, the margin amount may be reduced, which could lead to liquidation)” — a reminder that the setting is shared by the account.
  • “Mode applies only to new trades.” — open trades keep running in the previous position mode.
  • “Position mode is available only for futures bots.” — a spot bot does not have this screen.
