How drawdown is counted and how to reset the trigger

After the kill switch fires the protection does not arm itself again: you have to check the account, reset the trigger and put the bots back to work by hand. Here is how the bot counts the drawdown and what to do after the “🚨 KILL SWITCH TRIGGERED” message.

How the drawdown is counted

  1. At the moment you switch the protection on (or after you reset the trigger) the bot takes, at the nearest check, an initial snapshot — the total balance on the exchange across all your exchange bots. While there is no snapshot, the status shows: “Initial balance: not yet captured (will be taken on the next check, within a minute)”.
  2. After that, once a minute, the bot compares the current total balance with the reference point. The reference point is the highest balance reached: it starts from the snapshot and rises if the balance grows.
  3. The drawdown is how many percent the current balance is below that peak. As soon as it reaches the limit, the trigger fires.

A deposit raises the reference point by itself. A withdrawal, however, looks like a drawdown to the bot: switch the protection off before a withdrawal and switch it on again afterwards — the bot will take a fresh snapshot.

What happens when it fires

  • A critical message arrives (bypassing the digest and the notification mode): “🚨 KILL SWITCH TRIGGERED. All your Grid/DCA bots are paused due to reaching the account-level max drawdown. Reason: …” — the reason states the actual drawdown, the limit, the initial and the current balance.
  • All Grid bots go into a hard pause (the orders are cancelled), all DCA bots are paused. Signal bots keep working.
  • The status on the 🛡️ Kill switch screen: “🔴 Kill switch TRIGGERED. Drawdown limit: 25% Triggered at: … Initial balance: … All bots were paused automatically. Tap "🔄 Reset trigger" to resume protection, or "🔒 Disable" to turn off.”

Until the trigger is reset the protection does not watch the balance — it has already fired.

How to reset the trigger

  1. First deal with the cause: open the exchange, look at the open positions and see what exactly produced the drawdown. Close or reduce the positions if needed.
  2. Main menu → 🛡️ Kill switch🔄 Reset trigger. The reply: “✅ Trigger reset. Next check will take a fresh balance snapshot.” The protection is active again, but it now counts from the new, already reduced balance.
  3. The bots do not resume by themselves. Open each Grid bot and tap ▶️ Resume, and each DCA bot — ▶️ Start. If you do not want to resume them, leave them paused or stop them.

Instead of resetting you can tap 🔒 Disable kill switch (“✅ Kill switch disabled.”) — the bots also stay paused in that case, and the account protection stops working.

Example with the numbers

StepBalanceLimitFiring threshold
Protection switched on, snapshot2 000 USDT25 %1 500 USDT
Drawdown, the trigger fired1 480 USDTdrawdown 26 % ≥ 25 %
Trigger reset, new snapshot1 480 USDT25 %1 480 × 0.75 = 1 110 USDT

Note this: after a reset the protection allows another 25 % of the new balance. If such a margin is not acceptable, set a smaller limit through ✏️ Change limit before you resume the bots.

Common mistakes and what the bot says

  • You have many bots and after the reset they do not trade — that is by design: the reset brings back the protection, not the bots. Resume them one by one after you have checked the account.
  • “❌ An error occurred. Please try later or contact support.” — a temporary failure while resetting or switching off; repeat in a minute.
